Tony Ortega grew up in a traditional Mexican family in Chicago, Illinois. At a young age he was introduced to classical Mariachi music and would attend an after school program where he learned Jaripeo and Baile Folklorico.
After high school he moved to California where he studied Theatre under Dr. Donna Mendoza, Billie Shepard, Jim Jarrett, and Matt Shelton. Tony's extensive study of the Meisner Technique has allowed him to work with various Theatre companies in the Bay Area and New York.
Tony has had the privilege of bringing new works to life including The Rella Lossy award winning play "Ghosts of Bogota" by Diana Burbano, Gary Soto's award winning play "The Afterlife", Evelina Fernandez's adaptation of "Macario" at TeatroVision, and more!
Tony is also a company member at Coastal Repertory Theatre and Half Moon Bay Shakespeare in Half Moon Bay, CA. He has had the honor of being a cast member of Theatre Bay Area Award nominated plays Take me Out (Dragon Productions) and La Posarela (SFBATCO).
Tony's versatility has landed him on television in I (Almost) Got Away With It. He is a proud member of The LatinX Mafia and Lisa Keating's The Tribe. Tony and his wife are ecstatic to have welcomed their first child Cameron Antonio Ortega and he cannot wait to pass down his love and passion for the arts!
